Mission: SJSU’s Financial Aid Office wanted to help students understand how loans could help them achieve their college goals. Many of the SJSU students are first generation college students and minority students have a fear of taking out loans. There is the perception that a loan will cost 10 times the original amount. Many students work full time in order to pay for college and they often don’t have the time to do an internship or participate in class projects. While the SJSU doesn’t want to push loans, this video is shown at freshman orientation to help students see where a loan might help them with their career goals.
